Objective: 300-500 bps of annual alpha relative to R2000G Index through a full market cycle
Philosophy: We believe that gaining an informational advantage through bottom-up fundamental research will lead to superior relative returns due to inefficiencies that exists in the small cap market. Additionally, we believe the quality of a companyÕs management team is likely to play the most significant role in the ultimate success of a small cap company.
Process: We generate new investment ideas primarily from interaction with our portfolio companies, as well as their customers, suppliers and competitors. In addition, our longstanding network of contacts in the private equity community and our quantitative screens help us source new investment ideas.
We refine investment ideas into potential investment candidates by conducting on-site visits, analyzing company fundamentals, assessing industry conditions and then score each investment candidate according to eight attributes. Additionally, each company is categorized as either core growth or changing dynamics. We then construct a diversified portfolio of the 60-90 stocks that we believe should best position us to achieve our investment objective.
